Sometimes, the NFL Draft shakes out better than you anticipated.
That is what happened for the Chicago Bears and general manager Ryan Poles. After selecting quarterback Caleb Williams first overall, the Bears were slated to pick at ninth overall as well. The hope for the Bears was that one of the top three wide receivers would be there and they got their guy in Rome Odunze.
The process in getting Odunze was a sweat. There were multiple teams that needed wide receivers and two of them were selected ahead of the Bears. When they got to pick eight and the Atlanta Falcons, the Bears were getting more confident that Odunze would fall to them, but nothing could have prepared them for what happened next.
Inside the #Bears draft room as they patiently waited to see if Rome Odunze would fall to them at No. 9.

The face on Poles' face was priceless and epitomizes all of us when we saw the selection.
