The Minnesota Vikings are entering their own version of the Final Countdown.
The 2024 season is upon us and the excitement is palpable. As we get through the offseason, everyone wants to see quarterback J.J. McCarthy in a Vikings uniform. It will signal a new era in Vikings football for many reasons.
General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell are entering their third seasons in control of the Vikings and it's crunch time. They now have the team shaped in their image and it's going to be pivotal for their future to be successful in the next two seasons.
With 98 days until kickoff, here’s a look at every player to wear No. 98 with the Vikings (via Pro Football Reference):

EDGE D.J. Wonnum
Wonnum was a fourth-round pick of the Vikings in the 2020 NFL Draft. He played in 62 games while starting half of them. He was very productive, registering 23.0 sacks and 24.0 tackles for loss during his four seasons. Wonnum signed with the Carolina Panther in the offseason.
DT Linval Joseph
After the New York Giants selected Joseph in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft, he spent four seasons with the team until the Vikings signed him before the 2014 season. Over his six seasons form 2014-2019, Joseph started and played in 88 games and was a dominant force in the middle of Mike Zimmer's defense.
DT Letroy Guion
A fifth-round pick in 2008, Guion was a mainstay on the defensive line for the Vikings and was with the team for six seasons from 2008-2013. He spent his final three years with the Green Bay Packers.
DE Darrion Scott
A third-round pick of the Vikings in 2004, Scott played in 57 games in his career, 48 of which came with the Vikings in 2004-2007. He played nine games with the Washington Commanders in 2010 and 2011.
DT Fred Robbins
The Vikings picked Robbins in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft with the hope of having him and 2000 first-round pick Chris Hovan manning the middle for a decade. He spent his first five seasons wit the Vikings, playing in 56 games with 39 starts. Robbins played in 12 total seasons spending his final eight with the New York Giants and St. Louis Rams.
DT Ben Williams
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Williams played for just two NFL seasons and in only four games. He spent the 1998 season with the team and played in one game.
DT Esera Tuaolo
Tuaolo played in nine NFL seasons and was with the Vikings from 1992-1996. He played in 60 games with the Vikings and started in 28 of them.
DL George Hinkle
Hinkle played in six NFL seasons but only one with the Vikings in 1992. He played in nine games with zero starts.
DE Phil Micech
Micech only played in three games during his NFL career, all of which with the Vikings in 1987.
