Earlier this week, Miami Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith was announced to the 2025 Pro Bowl as a replacement for Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Additionally, Smith will team up with New England Patriots QB Drake Maye in a skills competition called "Passing the Test" that combines passing accuracy with trivia smarts.
In the competition, each quarterback will be tasked with hitting various targets around the field while earning time bonuses based on trivia questions answered by a teammate. The latter part will be Smith's job, and with each correct answer he gives, Maye will be awarded an additional 10 seconds.
Smith, an eight-year NFL veteran, qualified for his first Pro Bowl thanks to a breakout season in 2024 in which he recorded 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns -- all career-highs.
This season was Smith's first with the Dolphins, after previously spending time with the Tennessee Titans, Patriots and Atlanta Falcons. In a disappointing campaign for some more high-profile members of the Dolphins' offense, Smith was a bright spot.
Smith remains under contract with the Dolphins for 2025 as well, on a two-year deal worth $4.2 million per year that looks to be a massive bargain. On Thursday night, though, he'll need to put his brain to work instead of his hands.
