The Miami Dolphins are more talented than their 1-3 record indicates. Injured and unsteady quarterback play are big reasons why they are in the situation they are in.
Perhaps more daunting than their 1-3 record is that the 2024 Dolphins join the dubious company of three other NFL teams in the past 20 years Only the 2005 Houston Texans, 2012 Kansas City Chiefs, and 2017 Cleveland Browns never held the lead in four NFL games.
🚨HISTORICALLY BAD: THE #DOLPHINS ARE ONE OF JUST 4 TEAMS IN #NFL HISTORY TO NOT HAVE A LEAD through their first four games.

Tyler Huntley did not play well in his Dolphins MNF debut, but it was probably too much to ask considering he barely had practice time with the offense.

The Dolphins appear to be in a naming a starting quarterback situation weekly at this point in the season. QB2 Skylar Thompson could be back shortly if his rib injury heals and Coach McDaniel wants to go back to him.
Some reports indicate Tua Tagovailoa is progressing well through the concussion protocol. He could be prepared to go in Week 8.
Adam Schefter reports Tua Tagovailoa is "symptom-free" and appears to be on track to return to the field as soon as Week 8.

In the meantime, the Dolphins caught a small break because the entire AFC East division lost in Week 4. They are just two games behind 3-1 division leader Buffalo, one game behind the 2-2 Jets, and tied with the New England Patriots, their Week 5 opponent.
