Jalen Ramsey injury update: Miami Dolphins star's status impacted by tricky schedule image

The good news surrounding Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey comes to a screeching halt when discussing his ability to get on the field in Week 1.

Ramsey just cashed in on the mega contract extension and returned to practice, yes. But there’s still no guarantee he will actually be able to suit up in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

A hamstring issue is a culprit, and so is the NFL schedule itself—Ramsey told Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post that the fact the Dolphins have a short turnaround before playing the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night is a "big key to this whole situation" when it comes to his availability on Sunday.

In an interesting twist, Ramsey also told Habib that his big extension had been done for a few days, yet he wanted to hold off the announcement until he could get back on the practice field with his teammates.

“I felt it was the right thing to do, you know what I’m saying?” Ramsey said, according to Habib. “I’ve been out for a little while, just a little hamstring injury. It’s tough because it’s my first time having this type of injury.”

If Ramsey misses the opener, the start could go to Ethan Bonner, a guy the Dolphins apparently keep turning down trade offers for lately.
