The Los Angeles Rams drafted Stanford kicker Joshua Karty in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, using the 209th overall selection to make him a Ram. What are the Rams getting with him and how does he fit with the Rams' roster?

Scouting Report for Joshua Karty

Strengths

  • Consistently accurate kicker
  • Range to hit from any distance from both hashes
  • Good, clean mechanics

Weaknessess

  • Had some issues adjusting to elements
  • Kickoff placement needs to come more inside to avoid bounces out of bounds

Karty made all 21 of his extra point attempts and 23 of 27 field goal attempts, including 4 of 7 from 50 or more yards with a long of 56; he had one field goal attempt blocked. Karty made 91.1 percent of his field goals over the last two seasons. He can also handle kickoff duties

Draft Grade

The Rams desperately needed a kicker, and they might have gotten away with the best kicker in the draft. Karty's accuracy and range will be boons for the struggling Rams' special teams.
