The Los Angeles Rams drafted Clemson defensive tackle Tyler Davis in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, using the 196th overall selection to make him a Ram. What are the Rams getting with him and how does he fit with the Rams' roster?

Scouting Report for Tyler Davis

Strengths

  • Very good play strength
  • Good frame
  • Good lateral ability
  • Good quickness
  • Good pad level
  • Good use of hands in the run game

Weaknessess

  • Below-average pass rush moves
  • Below-average length
  • Average athletic ability

Tyler Davis is a nose tackle through and through. His 6'2, 301-pound frame is well-built and he can hold his own against double-teams in the run game. Davis is a superb two-gap defender and is at his best in the run game, where he uses his hands well to get off blockers and has the ability stretch out a play laterally. He isn't much of a factor as a pass rusher, likely limiting his upside and why he fell so far in the draft. However, he's a smart, powerful player who should be the Rams NT insurance and be part of their rotation up front.

Draft Grade

The Rams desperately needed to boost their run defense and add competition to Bobby Brown III at nose tackle. They did both here with one of the best nose tackles in the draft. I feel comfortable giving this one a good solid B+.
