The Los Angeles Rams drafted Washington State pass rusher Brennan Jackson in the fifth-round with the 154th overall pick. What are the Rams getting with Jackson and how does he fit with the Rams?

Scouting Report for Brennan Jackson

Strengths

  • Elite motor
  • Very good play strength
  • Good quickness
  • Good block shedding
  • Good awareness
  • Alignment versatility

Weaknesses

  • Average overall athletic ability
  • Average pad level
  • Average pass rush plan

Brennan Jackson is one of the most motor-driven pass rushers in this entire draft class. He never gives up on a play and keeps working after the ball until the whistle is blown. He pairs that motor with good quickness off of the line of scrimmage and his very good play strength that he uses to swipe off blockers and make a play. Jackson is quick to sniff out plays and rarely gets fooled by misdirection or play-action fakes. Jackson is an average athlete who doesn't turn the corner well or move well out in space. He's a salty rusher but one who is a better run defender than pass rusher.

Draft Grade

Jackson is a good player that has the character the Rams covet. He's a backup edge rusher to Jared Verse and Byron Young that the team can play as a base edge rusher out wide to provide them with better depth and rotation. This is a good, solid addition that will also boost the Rams' special teams. I think it's fair to give it a B.
