Kyren Williams was a breakout star for the Los Angeles Rams last season. Despite missing five games in 2023, Williams finished third in the NFL in rushing yards and led the league in yards per carry. Sean McVay has leaned on the run game throughout his career, and Williams provided the first encouraging season for a Rams' running back since Todd Gurley.
One analyst believes Williams isn't finished there, however. In his latest 100 bold predictions for the 2024 NFL Season, Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr predicted that Williams will lead the league in rushing yards in the 2024 season.
"After finishing in third place last year, the Rams’ third-year back will edge Christian McCaffrey, James Cook and Bijan Robinson, who will finish second, third and fourth, respectively. Williams will have 1,323 yards, on top of 11 rushing touchdowns and 64 accumulated first downs."
If Williams does pull off such a feat, he would be the first Ram to lead the league in rushing since Eric Dickerson back in 1986. Players like Marshall Faulk, Todd Gurley, and Steven Jackson have come close, but none have led the league in rushing yards.
We know that McVay will continue to run the ball early and often to great success, and Kyren Williams undoubtedly will benefit from that. It would be a surprise for him to be that productive with Blake Corum in the fold, but if the Rams are as successful as we think they can be, both might be highly productive in their 2024 campaigns.
