NFL Power Rankings: Los Angeles Chargers hardly move despite big divisional win image

The Los Angeles Chargers halted the winning streak the Denver Broncos had going and got a big win within the AFC West on the road. They won the game pretty convincingly, too. One would think that would result in a big jump in the power rankings, but that wasn't the case.

In Vinnie Iyer's latest power rankings list for The Sporting News, the Chargers moved up one spot, from No. 16 to No. 15. While that still puts them in the top half of the league, fans would have liked to see a bigger jump. However, after the team moved up last week without even playing a game, we might be able to call it a wash.

The Chargers (3-2) snapped their two-game losing skid on Sunday but that wasn't enough to impress Iyer to move them ahead of a team like the Chicago Bears or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here's what Iyer had to say in his summary:

"The Chargers haven't needed Justin Herbert to do much, but he looked healthier post-bye throwing the ball around on the Broncos while leaning well on the run. L.A. is also seeing plenty to love about Jesse Minter's defense, and it can breathe easier that Jim Harbaugh is beyond his own health scare."

The Chargers have an interesting matchup in front of them in Week 7 when they go on the road to face the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals are No. 24 in this week's power rankings, but even at 2-4, are a team that no one should overlook.

If the Chargers can stay healthy, they have the ability to be one of the best teams in the AFC. So far this season, the only thing that has slowed them down has been injury issues.
