The Los Angeles Chargers held a workout for linebacker Frank Ginda last week and following their second loss of the preseason, the team has officially signed the former USFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Ginda will join a deep group at linebacker with only one preseason game remaining, but he could still do enough between now and roster cutdown day to convince the team to add him to the 17-player practice squad.

Ginda has played for the Michigan Panthers of the now UFL for the past three seasons. He had a stint with the Atlanta Falcons sandwiched in there but failed to make the team. He just completed another solid year in spring ball and has gotten another chance in the NFL.

Frank Ginda has a wealth of playing experience

Ginda went undrafted in 2018 out of San Jose State and played for both the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins. He then signed with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football before getting another shot in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints.

When that didn't work out, he was drafted by the New York Guardians of the XFL and then joined the Panthers in the USFL.

Ginda has played for multiple teams in four different professional leagues but he is still just 27 years old. The Chargers see enough in him to give him a shot to participate in what remains of training camp and the final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.
