The Los Angeles Chargers have a rookie on the team who can produce the same type of season that another Los Angeles rookie accomplished last year.
In 2023, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua came out of nowhere. The fifth-round pick set numerous rookie records including most receptions in a season, most receiving yards in a season, and most receptions in a game. He was unstoppable at times and it was refreshing to see.
But if you watch the way the Rams used Nacua, primarily on passes across the middle of the field, McConkey will most likely be used the same way by the Chargers.
Can Ladd McConkey put up Puka Nacua numbers?
McConkey could be a record-breaking receiver as well and with the options that the Chargers have in the passing game, he could be the team's No. 1 target in the passing game.
Ladd McConkey is smoother than old church steps. Catches everything and doesn't drift off that line like many receivers do. Take him in the first round of you want a winner. pic.twitter.com/na3s7qadoE

Jim Harbaugh is going to rely on his running game. He is not going to have Justin Herbert throwing the ball around 40-50 times per game. Herbert will look to his short passing game to move the chains and McConkey should see a ton of targets.
While Nacua's numbers (105 receptions, 1,486 yards) may be a bit lofty, McConkey could certainly get into the neighborhood of those and if he leads all rookie receivers in those categories this coming season, don't be surprised.
