Los Angeles Chargers pegged top fit for star WR in potential trade image

The Los Angeles Chargers have completely flipped their wide receiver room this offseason and placed a concerted effort on revamping the position. But the team may still be in need of a No. 1 option at that spot.

ESPN's Matt Bowen recently looked at the top remaining NFL free agents and what the best spot to land would be for each. Including one trade option as a bonus, Bowen chose Cincinnati wide receiver Tee Higgins and paired him with the Chargers.

Now that would be something.

Though a trade involving Higgins is not likely, he did request one this offseason. If the Chargers were to make that deal, the team's passing game would suddenly look electric.

Trading for Tee Higgins is unlikely, but would be huge for Chargers

Justin Herbert will be throwing to several new targets this season, including veteran D.J. Chark and rookie Ladd McConkey, who many feel can rack up a ton of receptions in the middle of the field in this offense. If the team were to add a threat such as Higgins, arguably the best No. 2 wide receiver in the NFL, it would be a substantial move.

A second-round pick in 2020, Higgins has 257 receptions for 3,684 yards and 24 touchdowns in his career. He's put up those numbers playing second fiddle to Ja'Marr Chase. In L.A., he would be the No. 1 option in the passing game and could be one of the best wide receivers in the league with Herbert slinging it to him.

This is all likely just a pipe dream, but it's a really good one.
