Los Angeles Chargers offensive line lacks respect in recent NFL rankings

The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the best young offensive lines in the NFL, but are fans of the team and those who cover it hyping it up too much?

The team had a solid offensive line heading into the offseason and then added Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt with the No. 5 overall pick. Still, questions persist about the team's center position and of course, Alt has yet to play a professional snap.

Pro Football Focus recently rated the offensive line of every team in the league and they showed the Chargers some love, placing them at No. 12. But is that high enough?

Los Angeles Chargers have a top 10 O-Line, at the very least

This group is solid and when you consider that it will be led by head coach Jim Harbaugh, it won't be a liability. Harbaugh builds his teams through his offensive lines and that is what he has done throughout his coaching career.

Mike Devlin and former Chargers great Nick Hardwick will coach this group and they are going to get the very best out of it.

If Alt is as good as most believe he will be, he and Rashawn Slater could legitimately be the best set of tackles in the entire league. If Trey Pipkins can successfully transition from tackle to guard, look out. Zion Johnson, the other guard, is a great option as well.

Then you have the center position, the one all of the detractors are pointing to. The loss of Corey Linsley is a big one for this team, but Bradley Bozeman has played in an offense run by Greg Roman before and he's not a bad Plan B for this team.

When PFF posts its offensive line rankings following the season, look for the Chargers to crash the top five.
