Despite selecting three wide receivers in the NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Chargers wanted another veteran presence in the room. That became evident earlier in the week when the team hosted Tyler Boyd for a workout.
Boyd also met with the Tennessee Titans but the Chargers have instead decided to bring in D.J. Chark, who may be a better fit for the team than Boyd.
Chark, a second-round pick in 2018, will be playing for his fourth team. He had one-year stints with both the Detroit Lions and most recently, the Carolina Panthers after starting his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He now gets a one-year deal in LA that could be worth up to $5 million.

Chark visited with the Chargers ahead of the draft and even after evaluating their options following the draft, which landed the team Ladd McConkey, Brenden Rice and Cornelius Johnson, they have still found Chark as a good, veteran fit.
The move makes sense for both sides. Chark has 212 career receptions for 3,069 yards and 23 touchdowns. He provides Justin Herbert with a trusted target who can come in and help the growth of the rookies as well as second-year player Quentin Johnston.
The wide receiver position will be an interesting one for the Chargers all summer.
