With Joe Alt off the board, Los Angeles Chargers still don't take WR in re-draft

The Los Angeles Chargers were going to draft a wide receiver in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. At least, that is the way a good portion of the team's fans felt.

But when they went on the board with the No. 5 overall pick, they instead took offensive tackle Joe Alt. During the offseason, multiple NFL analysts have talked about how the team still needs more at the wide receiver position.

None of those arguments have been compelling enough for Matt Holder of Bleacher Report, who wrote a 2024 NFL re-draft.

Joe Alt already off the board when Chargers go on the clock

Holder has many teams taking different players than they selected just over two months ago and with the No. 3 overall pick, the New England Patriots pass on the quarterback to select Alt. This is an interesting choice as the Patriots are in huge need of a new passer, but Drake Maye is no longer the choice here.

With Alt off the board, surely the Chargers are going to take either Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze. Wrong. But they do take a player that can help in the passing game.

With the No. 5 overall pick in the re-draft, the Chargers now take Georgia tight end Brock Bowers, who went to the Las Vegas at No. 13 overall in the actual draft. This would be a great choice for the team and it would prevent him from going to a division rival.

Despite signing both Hayden Hurst and Will Dissly in free agency this year, Holder still gives the Chargers another tight end. Though it would be tough to argue the pick, Jim Harbaugh would likely scoff at this if he saw it and say he's glad he got Alt.
