Nearly all of the talk surrounding the Los Angeles Chargers ahead of the 2024 NFL season will be about new head coach Jim Harbaugh

Most NFL fans, even if they aren't Chargers fans, see Harbaugh as a positive change for the team after enduring the tenure of Brandon Staley. Most within the NFL media see it as a good move as well.

Speaking on the MMQB podcast, Albert Breer and Conor Orr discussed the team's outlook with training camp set to get into full swing. Breer made an interesting statement during that talk, comparing Harbaugh to Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Parcells.

Jim Harbaugh the modern-day Bill Parcells?

"I've made the comparison before, I think he's like a modern-day Bill Parcells, in an NFL context, that's what he is as a coach", Breer said to Orr.

That is a great comparison and high praise for the incoming Harbaugh. Like Parcells, Harbaugh has shown improvement everywhere he's been as a coach and has never really struggled too much, his teams always contend.

Parcells coached the New York Giants, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Dallas Cowboys and had a contending team regularly, winning two Super Bowls with the Giants and taking the Patriots to another. Harbaugh is seen as the same kind of coach.

When a team hired Parcells, it was to come in and clean up a mess, establish a proven system, and get the most out of his players. With Harbaugh, who is a bit of a throwback coach, the same will be expected.
