The Los Angeles Chargers put together a complete performance in their 26-8 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, a game in which Ladd McConkey broke out and announced himself as the team's top wide receiver of the future.
But there was a moment in this game that Chargers fans will not soon forget.
This offseason, the team signed Bradley Bozeman due to the impending retirement of Corey Linsley. Though Bozeman seemed like a logical fit due to his experience in Greg Roman's offense, Chargers fans met the signing with some moans and groans.
The Chargers were a team that, under Jim Harbaugh, was going to build the strongest offensive line in the league. But most fans still saw Bozeman as a major weak link. The team's starting center found a way to win the entire fanbase over on Sunday.
During the victory over the Saints, Justin Herbert became entangled with Saints defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd and it appeared that he began to awkwardly twist the leg of the Chargers quarterback. That is when Bozeman sprung into action. Have a look...
This was the ultimate "protect your QB" moment. While it wasn't a play that put any points on the board, this will be the most memorable moment from this game.
Bozeman viciously dove on Shepherd and showed a bit of a mean streak that you want to see out of a player protecting the franchise player. Bozeman should be cheered forever for this move. After the game, he addressed the altercation.
There should be no question as to where Bozeman fits on this team now. After the game, head coach Jim Harbaugh did not let the situation go unnoticed.
The rest of the team certainly agreed that he deserved a game ball.
