4 Los Angeles Chargers in position to steal a roster spot image

The Los Angeles Chargers have one more preseason game to play, this Saturday night against the Dallas Cowboys, and roster cutdown day arrives shortly after that.

The team likely has a good sense of the way the 53-man roster is going to shake out, but some players are looking to put the final touches on a roster spot, something they probably weren't pegged for by many making predictions.

This team will be built in the vision of Jim Harbaugh and he has a very consistent, yet unorthodox approach in certain areas. That will make some of these positional battles interesting, but these players are on the verge of stealing a spot.

Chargers players who could steal a roster spot

Simi Fehoko, WR

The Chargers have been all over the place at wide receiver this offseason, and no one has talked much about Simi Fehoko. But in addition to having a terrific summer, he's a tremendous asset on special teams.

Jaret Patterson, RB

Jaret Patterson made a statement with this team early on this offseason and he has never let go of that momentum. J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Kimani Vidal are going to be on the team, but Patterson has quite likely pushed Isaiah Spiller off the roster.

Tucker Fisk, TE

The Chargers just signed Tucker Fisk last week, but if the team is going to have four tight ends, he might be the last guy. He looked terrific as a blocker against the Rams and that is something Harbaugh values.

Would his inclusion on the roster come at the expense of Donald Parham or Stone Smartt?

Luis Perez, QB

From not even being in the NFL two weeks ago to the No. 2 QB on a roster, that is the spot Luis Perez could find himself in after the Cowboys game as the arrow for Easton Stick is pointing straight south.

However, it's just as likely that the Chargers trade for a quarterback or sign one that a team releases, such as Tyler Huntley or Taylor Heinicke.
