As is, the Las Vegas Raiders' wide receiver situation is OK, with the team sporting a trio of Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker. However, things could change, and quite possibly sooner rather than later.
According to Sports Illustrated's Michael Fabiano, he's hearing there's a chance Adams has played his last snap for the Raiders. Adams was ruled out with a hamstring injury in Week 4 and is reportedly considered week-to-week, but Fabiano adds that he could have played.
“I’ve got little birds all over, right?” Fabiano said. “Some of my little birds out there are suggesting to me that there’s a chance he doesn’t play another down for the Raiders and that he could have played yesterday, but the Raiders are looking to deal him because they think they could get some value for him. They know they’re going nowhere this year, especially with the quarterback situation they have right now.
“I know there is going to be no shortage of teams that will be looking to try and acquire him, and I’m guessing the No. 1 team on that list is probably the New York Jets,” he added. “I would not be surprised, especially with the way the Jets are playing, and Garrett Wilson’s not playing like an alpha right now, that Davante Adams ends up with the Jets… If the Raiders get what hey want in a trade for Adams, he’s going to be gone.”
If the Raiders do end up trading Adams at some point before the deadline, they're going to be short at wide receiver, which has led to Bleacher Report's Scouting Department to predict a trade for Tennessee Titans wideout Treylon Burks.
"This offense might be closer to a complete rebuild than the Raiders would care to admit. Davante Adams missed this week with a hamstring injury and the depth at wide receiver is a bit scary. Trading for Treylon Burks would give the Raiders an injection of young talent. Burks has not worked out in Tennessee since the Titans used a first-round pick to draft him, but he's only 24 years old. The physical traits that made him a first-round prospect are still there, but it might take a new situation to bring that potential out. The Titans have barely used the former first-round pick after rebuilding their own receiving corps this offseason, so he should come cheap."
A former first-round pick of the Titans in 2022, Burks has been a major disappointment over his first two-plus seasons in the NFL.
When he hasn't been hurt, Burks hasn't produced much on the field. He totaled just 665 receiving yards over his first two years in the league and has just 24 yards over four games this season.
Perhaps a change of scenery would do Burks good, as he's buried on the depth chart in Tennessee behind DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd. However, assuming a new home doesn't improve things, his past production wouldn't make for a needle-moving addition for Las Vegas.
The only positives about Burks is that he's still just 24 years old, he has one more year left on his rookie deal (he has a fifth-year option that won't get picked up), and he would come cheap in a trade because he has zero value.
The Raiders could bring Burks in if they trade Adams away and would be able to get a longer look at him in 2025 with the hope he can turn into a long-term solution.
