The Las Vegas Raiders are set to move on from superstar wide receiver Davante Adams sooner rather than later, as the All-Pro receiver requested a trade out of Las Vegas on Tuesday. Though Adams' departure from the Raiders is imminent and disappointing, the team still has an opportunity to construct a bright future centered around edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
Crosby has established himself as one of the best defensive players in the NFL over the last few seasons, totaling 38 sacks and 287 quarterback pressures since 2021.
The 27-year-old's stellar play caught the attention of his peers in a recent anonymous NFL player poll formulated by The Athletic's Mike Jones and other members of their NFL staff.
In the poll, Crosby received some votes when players were asked to name the next active player who would win their first Most Valuable Player award. The three-time Pro Bowler received the most recognition of any defensive player for this category, earning 3.9% of the votes in the 102-response survey.
Additionally, Crosby garnered a good amount of votes when players were asked to name the first non-quarterback they would draft to start an NFL team.
The 2019 fourth-round pick garnered 8.7% of the responses in the 103-player poll and was the third-highest-ranked defensive player on the list behind Myles Garrett (11.2%) and Micah Parsons (10.7%).
The high praise for Crosby from fellow players is a refreshing sight to witness. Las Vegas is viewed as a dysfunctional franchise by many around the league due to the lack of recent success and competency, but Crosby will be a pivotal piece to the resurrection of the once-storied franchise.
