The New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders were connected with trade speculation all offseason long, as many wondered if the Raiders would trade wide receiver Davante Adams to the Jets because of his history with Aaron Rodgers.
As speculation ran rampant, especially in the wake of a clip from the Netflix series "Receiver" that showed Adams' frustration with Jimmy Garoppolo last season, the veteran wide receiver's agent came out and squashed any idea that Adams may be traded to the Big Apple before the start of the season.
But that really hasn't stopped the speculation that Adams could land in New York at some point. ESPN's Dan Graziano posted an article naming top candidates to be moved at the trade deadline and he listed Adams going to the Jets.
Potential landing spot: New York Jets. What more is there to say than to remind you of the connection he had with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay? There was talk about the Jets wanting to pursue Adams in the past, and they could certainly give it another try before the deadline. The Rams and Steelers could also use someone of Adams' talent.
The Rodgers connection will always make the Jets a logical suitor for Adams, but the Raiders will have to actually want to trade him first before that happens. The chances of that coming this year aren't great.
The Raiders aren't going to deal Adams while they are still contending for a playoff spot. Las Vegas has a good enough team to not only avoid being out of contention by the trade deadline, the Raiders have a legit shot to make the playoffs, also.
If Adams is moved at all, chances are it's going to be next offseason, when general manager Tom Telesco will have to decide if he wants to give Adams the guaranteed money the final two years of his deal doesn't currently have.
