The NFL world is mourning the tragic death of Minnesota Vikings 2024 fourth-round pick and cornerback Khyree Jackson, who was a college teammate of Las Vegas Raiders second-round pick and offensive lineman, Jackson Powers-Johnson.

According to a statement from the Vikings, Jackson died following an overnight car accident that involved three vehicles. He was only 24 years old.

Per Maryland State Police, two others who were in the car with Jackson, who was seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the crash, tragically died, also. The occupants of the other two vehicles, including the one allegedly responsible for the crash, were not injured.

Investigators believe alcohol "may have been a contributing circumstance" in the crash. In addition, the car that struck the one Jackson was riding in was believed to be going at a high rate of speed.

Shortly after the devastating news broke, Powers-Johnson, who spent one season with Jackson at Oregon, took to social media to mourn the passing of his former college teammate.

"LOVE, PASSION, AND FIRE... rest easy my guy," Powers-Johnson wrote.

The Raiders also sent their condolences to the Vikings and Jackson's family.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of Khyree's passing," Vikings owners Mark and Zygi Wilf said in a statement. "Khyree had an extremely bright future ahead of him as a player, and it was clear he was dedicated to being a tremendous person who made a positive difference in people's lives. We are thinking about Khyree's family and friends and all members of the Minnesota Vikings following this devastating loss."

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Khyree Jackson.
