Anyone and everyone is going to have an opinion on the situation involving star wide receiver Davante Adams and the Las Vegas Raiders as the two sides are heading for a split.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Adams has requested a trade from the Raiders, which comes as zero surprise considering the two sides were always likely to have a breakup at some point.
In terms of what the Raiders are looking for, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that it will likely take a second-round pick and additional compensation. But considering Adams' age and contract, that additional compensation part might be tough to get.
If it does turn out to be the case that the Raiders can only get a second-round pick (or worse) for the star wide receiver, which is certainly possible, NBA star and Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard thinks that's not enough.
"If the Raiders trade (Davante Adams) for a damn 2nd round pick, I'm done," Lillard wrote on Tuesday.
On the surface, that doesn't seem like it's enough. After all, Adams has been one of the best in the business for years now and is still playing at a high level, although lackluster quarterback play the last year-plus has certainly held him back.
But Adams is also set to turn 32 in December and any team that acquires him now will have to take on $13.5 million, barring a restructure, according to Spotrac.
Further, the veteran wide receiver is owed $36.25 million in each of the next two years. None of that money is guaranteed and a restructure will likely have to be done to appease Adams' desire to get some, but he's going to be expensive no matter what.
Lillard's stance is certainly understandable, but when you take everything into account, it's easy to see why the Raiders might not get a ton for one of their best players.
