The Las Vegas Raiders remain in quarterback purgatory through five games of the 2024 season. Gardner Minshew is already proving he won't be a long-term answer under center, and there is little hope Aidan O'Connell will improve the situation.
At this point, the Raiders are going nowhere fast and the best thing that can happen this season is for the team to stink it up the rest of the way, en route to a high draft pick that can help the Raiders solve their quarterback issue once and for all.
But The 33rd Team's James Foster passes on an opportunity to grab a franchise quarterback in his recent mock draft and has the Raiders taking a running back instead.
With the No. 10 overall pick, Las Vegas takes stud Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who no doubt looks like a special talent. The problem, however, is that the Raiders pass on Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, who goes four picks later.
In fact, the Raiders pass on every quarterback in Foster's mock, as he only has Sanders going in the first round at No. 14 overall.

If this scenario presents itself to the Raiders, general manager Tom Telesco should be fired on the spot if he doesn't come away with a quarterback. I get it, you don't want him reaching for a young signal-caller who isn't worthy, but it's highly unlikely Sanders will be the only one who garners a first-round grade.
Adding insult to injury, the Raiders taking a running back that high in this day and age would only make things worse. Granted, Jeanty looks like the real deal, but his value pales in comparison to a potential franchise quarterback who could solve Las Vegas' biggest need for at least the next decade.
If there truly is no quarterback worthy of a top-10 pick in that spot, the Raiders would be better served trading back and adding to their arsenal of picks, which would greatly help the rebuilding process.
