Without a shadow of a doubt, Las Vegas Raiders sixth-round pick and running back Dylan Laube has been one of the most pleasant surprises for the team this entire offseason.

After standing out during the offseason program, Laube has picked up where he left off in training camp. Laube has routinely been cited as a standout player and even received very high praise from head coach Antonio Pierce.

"That dude is special. I like him," Pierce said of Laube, according to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com. "And he's gritty. He's a gritty (running back). One thing — he surprises you with his speed. … He's going to be a difficult matchup, and it's already showing up in practice."

When asked if Laube could make a case for playing time early on in his rookie season, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy didn't rule it out.

"I hope so. He is off to a great start," Getsy said, per Vic Tafur of The Athletic. "He has a great feel for it, and he doesn't have the errors as far as what his responsibilities are. That's really cool to see from such a young guy."

Laube continued to show out on Tuesday during the team's first padded practice of camp. Not only did he receive positive reviews once again, he was running with the first-team offense during third-down work.

Laube figured to be the No. 4 back on the depth chart behind Zami White, Alexander Mattison and Ameer Abdullah entering training camp.

But based on his performance so far this offseason, perhaps we need to consider him the No. 3. And, if he can keep this up, it's very possible the New Hampshire product will see work on third downs early on in 2024.
