The Las Vegas Raiders are set to begin a new era at the running back position in 2024 after the team saw former first-round pick and two-time Pro Bowler Josh Jacobs leave in free agency to the Green Bay Packers.
The Raiders did reportedly make Jacobs an offer, but the specifics of that deal were not revealed, so we don't know exactly how the contract compared to Green Bay's four-year, $48 million deal.
However, during an appearance on the "Green Light with Chris Long" podcast that dropped on Thursday, Jacobs revealed that he never even talked to general manager Tom Telesco, and the team did not sit him down for a conversation at all.
"I never talked to the GM or none of that," Jacobs said. "It just was what it was. At the end of the day, I told them, 'Look, I've got every Raider record since I've been here, basically.'
"And I'm like, 'If y'all don't have enough respect in me to sit me down and have a conversation, then we don't have anything to talk about.' It's that simple, really."
Jacobs did say that head coach Antonio Pierce made it clear he wanted the running back to stay, and Jacobs hoped to play under Pierce, also. However, the decision to bring Jacobs back was out of Pierce's hands.
It is surprising that the Raiders didn't at least sit Jacobs down to talk to him after five years with the team. But none of that matters now, as Jacobs is in Green Bay and the Raiders are looking to the future at the running back position.
