The Las Vegas Raiders won't have a key piece of their offense in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns after wide receiver Davante Adams was ruled out on Friday. And, with that, fellow wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has entered the picture as a starting option in fantasy football.
Adams wasn't on the injury report on Wednesday before popping up on the list after Thursday's practice. It would appear Adams suffered the injury during the session. Head coach Antonio Pierce ruled him out ahead of Friday's practice.
Adams wasn't having a great season thus far, but he's still an every-week starter, so fantasy managers will have a void to fill in their lineups. Thankfully, there's a good option on the same roster as Adams.
Jakobi Meyers fantasy football outlook for Week 4
Meyers has always been a consistent producer, even in the face of poor quarterback situations. Meyers has posted 700 yards or more in each of the last four seasons, including 800 or more in each of the last three.
And, in those last three seasons, Meyers has posted overall rankings as WR29 in 2021 and 2022, and then WR24 in 2023, according to Fantasy Pros.
Meyers was quiet over the first two games. He caught three balls for 61 scoreless yards in Week 1, and followed that up with his worst game of the season in Week 2, catching four passes for 29 yards.
But Meyers is coming off his best performance of the 2024 campaign in Week 3, when he tallied seven receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown while showing improved chemistry with quarterback Gardner Minshew.
While Meyers should get peppered with targets, the concern is that he's going to draw coverage from Browns star cornerback Denzel Ward. But Meyers typically moves around the formation, which should limit his exposure to Ward.
Meyers was already a flex option entering this week, but Adams' absence makes him a high-end flex in standard, and a low-end WR2 in PPR.
