The Las Vegas Raiders are currently working the phones to get a deal done for their star wide receiver, Davante Adams, who has requested a trade from the team. And, according to a new report, owner Mark Davis has specific demands.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Davis "will not accept anything less" than a package that includes a second-round pick, plus additional compensation that could be either another draft pick or a player.
“The Raiders have let interested teams know that team owner Mark Davis will not accept anything less than a second-round draft pick in return for Adams, along with additional compensation that could be in the form of a draft pick or a player, according to league sources,” Schefter wrote on Sunday morning.
There has been a belief around the league that the Raiders will fall short of that asking price, with some believing Las Vegas will only get a third-round pick "and some change" for Adams, per CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones.
Schefter's report adds that trade talks surrounding Adams aren't as far along as some might think, partly because the veteran wideout is dealing with a hamstring injury that forced him to miss Week 4, and now Week 5.
However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Adams is expected to be fully healthy next week, and it's believed talks will intensify then.
"But sources say Adams is nearing full health and it's likely that he'd be healthy enough to play next week," he wrote. "All of which means that as trade talks ramp up over the next 48 hours, Adams may have played his last down for Las Vegas."
Rapoport adds that the New York Jets are in the mix and remain Adams' preferred destination, but the New Orleans Saints have been the most aggressive team. The Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers "have closely monitored the situation and stayed in touch."
"Adams, sources say, views the New York Jets and his old friend Aaron Rodgers, as his top choice for a landing spot," Rapoport report. "That's where he wants to play. But it's been the New Orleans Saints who have been the most aggressive, while other teams, including the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, have closely monitored the situation and stayed in touch. The Jets remain very much in the mix, as well.
Schefter adds the Baltimore Ravens are also monitoring things but haven't been in contact with the Raiders since early last week. Adams recently made a few posts to social media referencing Edgar Allan Poe, which led some to believe he was going to the Ravens.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that the Steelers are making "an aggressive offer" for Adams, so they remain a team to keep an eye on in this whole situation.
Russini adds that the Raiders and Adams want to get something done quickly, but if the Raiders hold firm on their asking price and nobody wants to pay it, that could drag this process out.
