Back in August, former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson made the claim that he had spoke to Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams and knew Adams wasn't happy with the team.
Jackson made the case that it was because of the Raiders' quarterback situation, and he made it sound like he had heard it from Adams himself.
“This one’s tough because me and Davante, we’ve talked, and I hate to do it because I don’t want to be the guy that’s ‘Oh, D-Jax said this and said that” but at the end of the day [Davante] isn’t happy,’" Jackson explained. “You go from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Las Vegas Raiders… and it just didn’t quite work out and so now I just don’t think he’s really that happy there.”
A few weeks later, Adams responded to Jackson's claim, saying that he didn't talk to the former NFL receiver about being unhappy in Las Vegas and called Jackson's comments "complete BS."
Now, in the wake of Adams' trade request, which shows he was indeed unhappy, Jackson is patting himself on the back.
“A little over a month ago, I just talked about the situation with Davante Adams. I talked about the boy not being happy and not having a quarterback, and look how fast things done changed,” Jackson said. “That boy just requested a trade. Him and Antonio Pierce ain’t on the same page. Things is getting bad out there in Las Vegas. The Raider fans tried to talk so much sh– about me, but all I did was kept it real…”
Frankly, it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Adams wasn't happy in Las Vegas, no matter what he said.
After all, Adams was frustrated with the quarterback situation last year, as was documented in Netflix's "Receiver" series, and that quarterback situation didn't improve this offseason with the team only adding Gardner Minshew.
Truth be told, Adams' breakup with the Raiders could've been predicted the second he went there. After all, Adams was only ever going to remain happy and with the team if he had two things: an elite quarterback and a chance to win a Super Bowl.
Sorry to Derek Carr, but he didn't offer the former, no matter how much Adams likes him. And, the Raiders were not in a position to win a Super Bowl upon acquiring the star wide receiver, so 0-for-2.
So, while Jackson is enjoying his little victory lap, it's hard to say he actually deserves one.
