Good offensive tackles are tough to find in the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs have a need at the position, and they should absolutely kick the tires on Caleb Jones, recently released by the Green Bay Packers.

Jones, a former undrafted free agent out of Indiana in 2022, is just 25 years old. He's also one of the largest human beings you are ever likely to encounter, measuring in at 6-foot-9 and a jaw-dropping 370 pounds.

The Chiefs need an upgrade at backup offensive tackle. That was exceedingly evident in the team's final preseason game.

Backups left tackles Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were getting pushed around and beaten off the line consistenly, and Kansas City's offensive line overall was a wreck.

It would be overenthusiastic to assume Jones could come in and immediately upgrade the position. After all, he didn't do enough to convince the Packers that he's worth keeping on the 53-man roster this season. And the Packers aren't exactly loaded at the position, either.

But it's impossible to discount the potential Jones possesses. He's a veritable brick wall on the edge. And he's more convinced now than ever before that he has what it takes to play in the NFL: "I can make it in this league," he told reporters recently.

A three-year starter at Indiana, Jones deserves the chance to do just that.
