Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker has responded to being called out by Serena Williams and Venus Williams at Thursday night's ESPY Awards.

His Benedictine College commencement address did not sit well with the Williams sisters who said everyone can watch and enjoy women in sports except for Butker.

Butker commended Serena Williams for her work as host of the show but was disappointed that she used the stage on a night when the best in sports were celebrated to share her opinion.

He said: "Sports are supposed to be the great unifier and at an event dedicated to celebrating a diverse group of men and women who have accomplished great feats, she used it as an opportunity to disinvite those with whom she disagrees with from supporting fellow athletes."

Since Thursday's ESPYs show, Butker's jersey sales have soared.
