Two seasons ago former Kansas City Chiefs' wide receiver, Kadarius Toney was on top of the world.

Today, he is looking for a job.

In Super Bowl LVII, Toney returned a Philadelphia Eagles punt 65-yards to put the Kansas City Chiefs in a position to win their second championship. He also scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Chiefs the lead and help deliver the title to Kansas City.

Toney was completely surrounded by the Eagles players on the punt return, but somehow got out of the log jam, cut across the field and was headed for the end zone. He was tackled just short of the end zone, but the Chiefs would score and win the game.

Mecole Hardman, another wide receiver, who caught the game-winning pass in this past Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers, made the team over Toney.

One Super Bowl hero has a job, while another is pounding the pavement.

Toney was originally a 2021, first-round selection of the New York Giants. After a year and a half in the Big Apple he was traded to Kansas City for third and sixth round picks in 2022.

He would go on and catch 16 balls in nine games that season for the Chiefs. He never turned out to be the No. 1 receiver in either New York or Kansas City.

The Chiefs had high hopes for him in 2023, but it just did not work out, He missed all of training camp after having surgery for a torn meniscus. He returned for the start of the regular season but wound up catching only 27 balls in a pass-happy offense.

During last season's championship run, Toney was inactive for all of the Chiefs' postseason games, including the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs declined to exercise his fifth-year rookie option in May. In August, he lost his job.
