The Kansas City Chiefs are one of two remaining unbeaten teams in the NFL after five weeks, and the only undefeated unit remaining in the AFC. That said, their passing game has been lacking explosiveness, and has lost two key receivers. Hollywood Brown was injured and lost for the season in the preseason with a shoulder injury, and Rashee Rice is also expected to miss the remainder of the regular season after getting surgery on his LCL.
However, the Chiefs are still listed as a potential landing spot for Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams. Max Weisman of The Big Lead still sees a trade as a possibility.
"On the surface, the undefeated Chiefs don't seem like they need or would even want Davante Adams," Weisman writes. "However, Kansas City's leading receiver, Rashee Rice, has only 288 receiving yards, good enough for 24th in the league in that category. That seems shocking for one of the league's two remaining undefeated teams and one looking to become the first NFL team to win three Super Bowls in a row... Adams would command a lot of attention on defense and could help free up Travis Kelce, who has yet to score a touchdown this season, for more targets."
While an in-division trade seems unlikely, there's certainly precedent for such a thing. Plus, the Raiders are so far behind being a competitive team that it truthfully doesn't matter if they send Adams within the division. If anything, they can charge the Chiefs a bit more than what they are asking from other teams and try to get a bit more draft capital to begin a much needed overhaul of the team.
