The Kansas City Chiefs postponed practice Thursday after a player sustained a medical emergency, the team reported.
The player was later identified as defensive lineman B.J. Thompson, the Chiefs' 2023 fifth-round pick out of Stephen F. Austin.
The Thompson was taken to a hospital in an ambulance after team doctors and athletic trainers immediately responded to the emergency, per The Athletic's Nate Taylor. Thompson is in stable condition, per Taylor. ESPN's Adam Teichner confirmed this report.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Thompson had a seizure during a special teams meeting and went into cardiac arrest.
Thursday's practice was the third phase of the team's voluntary offseason program. They will resume OTAs on Friday. Mandatory minicamps are scheduled to start on June 11.
