The Kansas City Chiefs' offense has looked somewhat inconsistent through three games, but one bright spot was the continued emergence of wide receiver Rashee Rice.
The SMU product had 24 catches through three games with two touchdowns and was clearly the No. 1 target of Patrick Mahomes. Unfortunately for Kansas City, Rice was carted off the field with an injury in the first half of the Chiefs' Week 4 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers with a lower leg injury and was almost immediately ruled out. When asked about his receiver going into halftime, head coach Andy Reid gave an answer that didn't sound hopeful.
"I'm not sure [how severe the injury is]," Reid said. "But it's not good."
The Chiefs scored on a long touchdown pass from Mahomes to rookie Xavier Worthy, and they will need him, along with Travis Kelce to step up amidst the loss of Rice. The team is also without running back Isiah Pacheco and receiver Hollywood Brown, who is out for the regular season. More injuries are the last thing they can afford as they try to get the offense going.
