Sunday was not exactly a banner day for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

At home against a hapless-looking Cleveland Browns team, Lawrence completed just 14 of his 30 attempts for 220 yards, appearing to be on equal footing with embattled Browns starter Deshaun Watson (22-of-34, 186 yards).

Not exactly what one would expect of a former No. 1 pick in his fourth season on a $275 million contract.

Yahoo Sports' Frank Schwab was one of many left wondering exactly what was going on with Lawrence:

“Lawrence was outplayed by Deshaun Watson, and the Jacksonville Jaguars fell to 0-2 this season with a home 18-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have a good defense but the Jaguars should be able to produce a little more on offense. They appeared to take a lead in the fourth quarter but a touchdown to Christian Kirk was wiped out by an illegal shift penalty. The Jaguars settled for a field goal, and after the Browns chewed up a lot of clock, Lawrence took a safety in the final two minutes with his team trailing by a field goal.”

What’s jarring is that this was an extension of the week prior, where Lawrence completed just 12 passes for 162 yards, albeit with a touchdown, in a loss to the Miami Dolphins.

There is quite a bit more wrong in Jacksonville than just Lawrence, of course. Still, it’s also stunning to see ESPN’s Michael DiRocco note that he has lost seven straight starts, with the 294-day drought the longest in the NFL. The last two have come while his defense has allowed just 20 and 18 points.

Things won’t get easier for Lawrence, either, not with games against Buffalo’s Josh Allen and Houston’s C.J. Stroud up next.
