The Jacksonville Jaguars are officially in desperation mode entering Week 4. A loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday would drop the Jags to 0-4. Only one team in NFL history has started a season with four consecutive losses and made the playoffs: the 1992 Chargers.

It’s time to panic in Jacksonville, especially after Monday night’s rock-bottom performance — a 47-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills in which the Jaguars were outclassed in every phase of the game.

Changes could be coming in short order, and the Bleacher Report scouting department believes the Jaguars should act now to help their struggling pass rush, before it’s too late.

In their analysis of each NFL team’s biggest weakness entering Week 4, Bleacher Report tabbed the Jaguars as a potential suitor for 24-year-old EDGE defender Nik Bonitto of the Denver Broncos. Here was their team’s take:

The Jaguars are going to have to get things going to avoid falling behind in the AFC South and part of that is getting a more consistent pass rush. The depth behind Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen is a concern and taking a chance on someone in the trade market would be a good way to address it.

Nik Bonitto had eight sacks last season but hasn't been able to pass Jonathan Cooper or Baron Browning on the depth chart in Denver. He's been relatively quiet early in this season, but the pure pass-rushing skill is there. Perhaps bringing him in would round out the Jaguars room.

With their offense struggling to sustain drives and score points, the Jaguars have to do something to help their young and overmatched secondary. Generating more pressure on opposing QBs would be a start.

Per PFF’s advanced stats, the Jaguars were unable to hit Bills quarterback Josh Allen on their 12 total pressures on Monday night. Allen was basically free to do whatever he wanted on dropbacks, resulting in four touchdown passes and a near perfect QB rating of 142.1.

Per PFF, Jacksonville’s most efficient pass rusher in the game was inside linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, who left in the second quarter with a foot injury and couldn’t return. Josh Hines-Allen is a special talent, but the team will need to find answers quickly before this 2024 season essentially ends in September.
