The Jacksonville Jaguars would be a floundering franchise without any sense of direction or hope if not for Trevor Lawrence.
The former No. 1 overall pick has led Jacksonville to consecutive winning seasons for the first time since the 1998 and 1999 seasons and led them to the divisional round of the AFC playoffs in the 2022 season. Yet somehow, he continues to be undervalued.
Mike Sando of The Athletic put together a panel of NFL personnel to rank and tier all 32 starting quarterbacks, and Lawrence fell square in the middle at No. 16.
"Lawrence fell seven spots, the biggest drop for any player from 2023," Sando wrote. "The gap between his salary and Tiers ranking is the largest in that direction for any player in Tiers history."
One voter said Lawrence just doesn't have "it."
"There is something that Burrow has, that Josh Allen has, that Mahomes has that borders on cocky that I don't feel with Herbert or Lawrence," the voter said.
Lawrence continues to be unfairly judged after a closing stretch that saw him suffer a long list of injuries while still being expected to do everything right in order for the Jaguars to have a snowball's chance in hell to win games. He will make a lot of people eat their words in 2024.
