Jelani Woods injury update: Colts tight end exits game with toe injury image

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jelani Woods exited Saturday night's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals with a toe injury.

The third-year tight end is considered questionable to return after getting the start alongside Andrew Ogletree and Will Mallory.

It's unclear when Woods suffered the injury, but it was announced midway through the second quarter that he was listed as questionable.

It's also unclear how severe the injury is, but it couldn't come at a worse time for the 25-year-old.

Despite plenty of hype about his potential in Shane Steichen's offense, Woods has been buried on the depth chart throughout training camp and the preseason.

He even was left off our latest roster projection because of the uncertainty.

His elite athleticism gives him an intriguing floor as a receiving tight end, and he showed a lot of promise during his rookie campaign.

However, Woods missed his entire second season due to nagging hamstring injuries. He was healthy during the spring but hasn't done anything to help his chances of climbing the depth chart.

We'll see how long the injury for Woods will be, but this is bad news for his chances of making the roster.
