The Indianapolis Colts elevated kicker Spencer Shrader and cornerback Chris Lammons from the practice squad, the team announced Saturday.

The move to elevate Shrader to the active roster for the Week 1 game against the Houston Texans is hardly unexpected.

Starting kicker Matt Gay is recovering from surgery to repair a hernia and while he wasn't ruled out for Sunday's game, he didn't practice all week.

Gay hasn't officially been ruled out but with Shrader coming up, that signals the Cotls are preparing to be without him Sunday.

Shrader has been with the Colts since signing with the team following the 2024 NFL draft. The South Florida (2019-2022) and Notre Dame (2023) product had a 68.2% field-goal percentage and a 98.7% extra-point percentage in 57 career games in college.

During the preseason, Shrader converted both of his field-goal attempts (56 and 41 yards) and all four of his extra-point attempts.

Lammons is a veteran cornerback who will provide some depth in the slot behind starter Kenny Moore II.
