The Indianapolis Colts enter the 2024 NFL Draft looking to build off a campaign that saw them narrowly miss the playoffs.

After finishing 9-8 and in third place in the AFC South, the Colts are hoping to further the development of young quarterback Anthony Richardson.

The enticing dual-threat flashed promise and upside in four games before a shoulder injury forced him to miss the remainder of his rookie season. The Colts also spent the majority of the offseason retaining their own players rather than spending big in free agency.

With the rest of the division making big moves to compete in what should be a tight race, the Colts are relying heavily on the additions they make in this year's draft class to help them toward their goal of taking the top spot in the AFC South—something they haven't done since 2014.

The Sporting News is tracking the Colts' 2024 NFL Draft selections, from round one to seven. Follow along with the picks below.

Colts' NFL Draft needs

  • Cornerback: The Colts spent plenty of draft capital on the cornerback position last year, and there's a good chance they use an early pick at the position again. With such a deep class and the need to find a stable running mate for Julius Brents on the outside, it would be a surprise if the Colts didn't address the position within the first two days of the draft.
  • Wide Receiver: In terms of pure need, the wide receiver position may not be exactly near the top of the list. However, this class is simply too strong for the Colts to pass up the chance to add some explosive talent for Anthony Richardson to work with as he develops. The quartet of Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin is fine, but it can be better.
  • Safety: The Colts re-signed Julian Blackmon to a one-year deal, but that likely won't be enough depth going into the season. This is especially true considering his injury history. The safety class isn't expected to be an overly strong crop, but there's a need to find depth and future talent over the draft weekend.
