Colts legend Dwight Freeney reveals surprising origin of patented spin move image

Indianapolis Colts legend Dwight Freeney made a living off a patented spin move that made offensive tackles look ridiculous every Sunday.

That spin move helped Freeney get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2024. He will be enshrined during Saturday's ceremony, and his class was celebrated Thursday night ahead of the Hall of Fame game in Canton.

During a sideline interview with Laura Rutledge, Freeney revealed the surprising origin of his patented spin move.

"I used to be a big AND1 mixtape person. I loved it back in the 90s. Some people know about it, and some people don't," Freeney said. "But I wanted to make offensive players, offensive tackles, look silly as possible. So, I tried to figure out how I could do that, and that's how the spin got great on the practice field in Bloomfield, Connecticut."

That spin move led to 125.5 career sacks, 47 forced fumbles and three All-Pro First-Team selections.

Freeney's name will forever echo in the halls of the greatest players to ever set foot in the NFL, and it seems Colts fans have AND1 to thank for that.
