Houston Texans ticket prices skyrocket after big 2024 offseason image

After years of mediocrity, the Houston Texans are one of the hottest tickets in town for the 2024 NFL season.

Not only do the Texans have the reigning NFL Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year in C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., but Houston also made some huge moves this offseason to build one of the best all-around teams in the league.

The Texans spent the sixth-most money in free agency this year, traded for wide receiver Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon and play some of the best teams in the NFL after they won the AFC South in 2023.

They're one of the top contenders in the AFC alongside the Chiefs, Bills, Ravens and Jets. That's led to a huge jump in ticket prices as well.

Houston saw an almost 100% increase in average ticket prices between 2023 and 2024, according to TickPick. That's the highest movement among all NFL teams. Texans tickets jumped from an average of $155 in 2023 to $309 for the 2024 season. The Lions had the second-highest movement at 68% from $192 to $323. The Patriots ranked third, although their tickets got cheaper — from $416 to $226.

This all makes sense when you think about what the Texans have done in the past year. But it's still surprising given how bad this team was from 2019-2022. Houston won just 11 games during that stretch, which is just one game more than the team won in 2023 alone.

TEXANS 2024 SEASON: Full schedule | Predictions | Primetime games | 53-man roster predictions

A year ago, the Texans were coming off a 3-13-1 season. They had just drafted Stroud and Anderson with the Nos. 2 and 3 picks, respectively, with a first-year head coach in DeMeco Ryans and a first-year offensive play-caller in Bobby Slowik.

No one could have predicted what would happen next. Stroud turned into one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL almost overnight. The offense looked terrific with Slowik running the show. The defense flashed brilliance with Anderson Jr., fellow edge rusher Jonathan Greenard and 2022 first-rounder Derek Stingley Jr. in the secondary.

The Texans went 10-7, won the AFC South for the first time since 2019 and upset the Browns in the wild-card round before the Ravens bludgeoned them in the divisional round.

Rather than rest on their laurels, the Texans went to work to overhaul the team in 2024. They signed marquee names like Danielle Hunter, traded for Diggs and Mixon and added depth pieces in the NFL Draft. The NFL gave them a few huge primetime games as well, including a match on Halloween against the Jets and a Christmas showdown with the Ravens.

This is a team to watch because of hype, star power and their schedule. It's reflected in their ticket prices, which is both a good and bad thing for Texans fans. The days of being a laughingstock are over in Houston.
