DeMeco Ryans says Texans have Denico Autry's back over suspension image

The Houston Texans suffered a pretty significant blow to their defensive line a couple days ago when the NFL announced that defensive tackle Denico Autry has been suspended the first six games of the season for violating the league's PED policy. Autry has released a statement claiming that he did not knowingly take a banned substance, and it seems head coach DeMeco Ryans believes him.

Here's Ryans speaking with reporters on Tuesday saying that the organization stands with Autry and his statement.

This inspires at least some hope that Autry's suspension may be overturned if he decides to appeal. However, for now the Texans have to assume that the will be out of the lineup until Week 7.

Taking Autry's place in the lineup will be veteran Mario Edwards Jr., who is listed as a starter next to Folorunso Fatukasi on the team's unofficial depth chart that was released recently ahead of the team's first preseason game of the year tomorrow night.

If the Texans decide that they need more interior depth while Autry is out, they could decide to bring in another veteran in free agency. Al Woods and Linval Joseph are among the top interior linemen who are still available.
