The Green Bay Packers could be without two important players when they face the division-rival Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
Green Bay listed quarterback Jordan Love (knee) and cornerback Jaire Alexander (quad, groin) as questionable on the final injury report before Sunday’s showdown.
Love, who has missed the last two games for the Packers, was limited in practice all week, just as he was last week. Alexander participated in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday due to an injured quad, then missed practice on Friday with a groin injury.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur gave a cryptic “we’ll see” when asked about Love’s availability for Sunday. Love sprained his MCL in Green Bay’s season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles during the National Football League’s first-ever game in South America. He was initially expected to miss three to six weeks.
If he can’t play, Malik Willis would make his third consecutive start for the Packers. He’s led the Packers to a 2-0 record, completing 25-of-34 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. He’s also rushed 12 times for 114 yards and a score.
The loss of Alexander would be significant for a Green Bay defense that must contain All-Pro wideout Justin Jefferson. Minnesota will also welcome back 2023 first-rounder Jordan Addison from an ankle injury.
Green Bay has listed cornerback Carrington Valentine as doubtful, further hampering the Packers’ 22nd-ranked pass defense. Corey Ballentine, who has 10 career starts in six seasons, would move into the starting lineup if Alexander and Valentine do not play.
