The Green Bay Packers have all of the makings of a team that could make some noise in the NFC in 2024.
Green Bay surprised people last year and now have even higher expectations. The Packers could end up being great this season thanks in large part to quarterback Jordan Love. If he were to go down with an injury at some point, though, there isn't much on the roster behind him.
Because of this, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine linked the Packers to New England Patriots quarterback Bailey Zappe who could be on his way out of town.
"Who He Could Help: Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams," Ballentine said. "Bailey Zappe showed some potential as an NFL backup in his first two seasons. He doesn't possess amazing physical traits but he can run an NFL offense and has a 4-4 record as a starter with a career passer rating of 78.5. We learned how vital a backup quarterback can be last year.
"Several major quarterback injuries defined the season and teams with good backup quarterbacks were able to weather those storms and remain competitive. Right now, it's hard to feel too good about the backup situations for the Packers, Chargers, and Rams. Michael Pratt, a 2024 seventh-round pick, might be on the brink of unseating Sean Clifford as the starter in Green Bay. Easton Stick is set to start for the Chargers if Justin Herbert misses time and Stetson Bennett is backup in Matthew Stafford."
Don't be surprised if the Packers get in the mix for him if Zappe becomes available.
