The Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings always treat fans to a memorable showdown.
The two historic NFC North teams have squared off 127 times, with the Packers leading the series 66-58, including three ties. This season, they'll do so for the first time on Sunday, with first place in the division on the line.
The 3-0 Vikings and 2-1 Packers have both looked strong to start the season. But the storyline becomes more complicated when factoring in star running back Aaron Jones, who jumped from Green Bay to Minnesota in free agency this summer.
Jones has talked at length in the past about the fond memories he carries from his seven-year Packers career, and he did so again on Thursday. But he also pledged to do something in Sunday's game that would hit Packers fans right in the feels.
"If you're not thinking about the end zone, you're thinking about the wrong thing," Jones said, per Will Ragatz of Bring Me The Sports. "Definitely leaping... Hopefully there's a Vikings fan in (the end zone) so I can jump up to them. I think that would be a pretty cool shot, a pretty cool side-by-side with the two jerseys."
Jones did the Lambeau Leap as a member of the Packers 39 times, one for every touchdown he scored at home in the regular season plus playoffs. Making it to 40 would be special for the running back, but it would create some complex emotions for Packers fans.
Regardless of whether Jones scores a touchdown or not, this is also a vital game for both teams. Beating the Packers would do far more emotional damage than a single Lambeau Leap ever could.
And if Jones happens to score the winning touchdown on Sunday, it's going to take a long time before Packers fans ever consider forgiveness.
