Ahead of their final week of organized team activities, the Detroit Lions have waived veteran defensive back Craig James with an injury designation.

The Lions announced the move on Tuesday morning. James, who was on the list of non-participants at mandatory minicamp, will likely revert back to injured reserve after clearing waivers. From there, James will need an injury settlement to be removed from the list.

Signed to a futures deal by the Lions earlier this offseason, the former undrafted free agent has appeared in 23 games (one start) over six years in the NFL. He's spent time with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Jets.

In 2023, James played in two games for the Jets, seeing snaps on both defense and special teams. He landed on the Lions' practice squad late in the campaign before securing the aforementioned futures deal in Detroit.

The Lions did not make a corresponding move, so they have a spot to fill on their offseason roster.
