While a lot of the conversation surrounding the Detroit Lions' first-round pick has centered around the team possibility trading back, which would no doubt be disappointing to fans in attendance on Thursday night, there is reportedly some interest on the Lions' behalf in trading up in the 2024 NFL Draft.

According to MMQB's Albert Breer, the Lions are exploring a trade up from the No. 29 overall pick, with Breer saying Detroit is likely looking for an edge rusher or cornerback in Round 1.

Among the teams exploring a trade up are the Detroit Lions, who are sitting at 29. After two consecutive years of multiple first-round picks (which brought them Aidan Hutchinson, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell), the Lions are likely looking for an edge opposite Hutchinson, or perhaps another corner.

Edge rusher and cornerback are among the two biggest needs the Lions should be looking to address in the upcoming draft.

Detroit signed veteran defensive end Marcus Davenport, but he's only on a one-year deal and has a troublesome injury history. The Lions could no doubt use more depth in the short term, and a starter for the long term.

At cornerback, the Lions added Amik Robertson and re-signed Emmanuel Moseley, but the former doesn't have a ton of starting experience under his belt and the latter is coming off a pair of torn ACLs in the past two seasons. Moving up could put the Lions in position to snag one of the top-two cornerbacks in this draft, Alabama's Terrion Arnold or Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell.
